Hi Girlie!
My name is Lisa Stephens (You can just call me Lisa)
My journey begins in the heart of a small, poor community they called the ghetto. A community named Canaan Heights located in Clarendon Jamaica. For me, faith wasn’t just a Sunday ritual, but the very essence of my existence. Born into a family deeply rooted in Christian values, I learned the power of prayer before I could even spell my name. My grandparents who were avid members of The Berean Church of God International family (The church on the hill); fostered an environment for me to know and love Christ from an early age. Raised as the oldest sibling and grand child; I learned how to be responsible from a young age.
At the age of 14, I found myself standing at the crossroads of adolescence, grappling with the complexities of life. I made the decision to be baptized at the Vision Emanuel Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Clarendon. I wasn’t coerced or told by anyone. I just remember going to church the Sunday and returning from church a whole different person. It was during this pivotal moment that I encountered a profound sense of purpose and belonging through my faith. The realization that I was a beloved child of God ignited a fire within me—a fire that continues to burn brightly to this day. Don’t get me wrong, I strayed on my Christian journey (More often than you could imagine) but because of Jesus’ love and grace; like the prodigal son I was always welcomed back home with open arms.
Despite the financial challenges that loomed over the household, I refused to let circumstances dictate my destiny. Education was my ticket to a brighter future, it was a path paved with determination and resilience. With unwavering faith and sheer determination, I pursued a degree in pharmacy at the University of Technology Jamaica, fueled by a passion to make a difference in the world. After graduating, I served my community for 4 years as a community pharmacist in Jamaica, my homeland.
Life is a journey filled with unexpected twists and turns, and mine was no exception. At the age of 29 I got married to my husband and made the decision to leave behind the familiar comforts of my home country, I embraced the unknown with open arms.
Settling into my new life in the U.S. was a journey of adaptation and resilience. I found solace in the familiar rhythms of faith and family. With my loving husband by my side, we embarked on a new chapter together.
As a wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and niece, I wear many hats with grace and humility. As the Godmother and auntie of three beautiful children, I am reminded daily of the importance of nurturing the next generation with love, wisdom, and faith.
I navigate the complexities of my profession in the pharmaceutical industry with integrity and compassion, always striving to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Each day presents a new opportunity to lead with purpose and passion, guided by the timeless values instilled in me since childhood.
As I reflect on the journey that has brought me to this moment, I am filled with gratitude for the blessings that have adorned my path. From humble beginnings in a small Jamaican community, my life has been a testament to the power of faith, resilience, and the unwavering support of loved ones.
In the tapestry of my life, every thread tells a story—a story of triumph over adversity, of a love that is not bounded by the constraints of age, and of a faith that lights the way through the darkest of nights. As I continue to walk this path with courage and conviction, I am reminded that the greatest adventure is the journey of the heart—a journey guided by faith, fueled by love, and imbued with the timeless beauty of femininity.
